Hello Everyone! We've recently added Invitations to our List of Wedding & Event Services!

Companies combine to form a one-stop shop for DJs, Event Entertainment and Wedding Invitations. CaliforniaDJs.com, Pacific Events Entertainment and Paper Cut Invites offer innovative custom programs.

Southern California, November 29,2009 - In a recent press release, the union of CaliforniaDJs.com and Pacific Events Entertainment was announced as these companies strive to provide an easy option to brides and event planners in the Southern California area.

Now, they’ve asked Lauren DeCaprio, founder and CEO of Paper Cuts Invitations, to join in their efforts to keep quality high and pricing low. Lauren, a San Diego State University Design School graduate actually founded PaperCutsInvites.com out of shear desperation when she had difficulty finding a quality vendor for her own wedding invitations. "I spent countless hours searching through invitation books trying to find something special, without success. It was so frustrating! I had no one to turn to and time was running out. That's when I decided to use my graphic arts degree and design experience to create my own invitations. And, they were a smash! PaperCutInvites.com was born." – Lauren DeCaprio.

Tim Coy, CEO of Pacific Events Entertainment and Chairman of Current Events, LLC states "After working with many design companies, we found Lauren to be very creative and reliable. Seeing the reaction on her clients face was what prompted us to ask her to join our group. PaperCutInvites.com always goes beyond our clients expectations without breaking their budget."

Planning weddings, receptions and events in general has long been a challenge that most saw as impossible. That is starting to change when individually successful companies see the benefit in working together for the better of the client. Dr. Robert Houle, Ph.D worked as a clinical psychologist for a number of years before starting multiple event and entertainment companies including CaliforniaDJs.com. His expertise in psychology gave him unparalled insight while dealing with inexperienced young couples that were doing their best to plan an exquisite event. Wedding and Event Planners also endured the same headaches while attempting to “package” multiple options for their clients. “It just didn’t seem like a fair fight,” exclaimed Dr. Houle. “When I got started in the industry you’d have to interview everyone in town just to find 1 or 2 good vendors. If you were an excellent interviewer, had a lot of free time and were really lucky then you might have a chance at getting solid people to help you through your event. We’ve worked with the good and the ‘not so good’ over the last 15 years. Now, we’ve found that our clients really appreciate the fact that we can personally guarantee that the client is going to have a stress-free experience. And not just with one vendor – With All of Them!” – Dr. Robert Houle of CaliforniaDJs.com .

As recession continues throughout the country, the importance of spending your money wisely grows each day. Businesses are also realizing that Old World business strategies like co-ops and partnerships is reducing marketing costs while also creating a more stable environment for would be shoppers that are looking for more than just a good deal.

Catering Sales Manager for the Westin Hotel recently made mention of the fact that there are hundreds of companies out there that do good work but there are only a few that do great work. Trying to piece them all together has been a nightmare. She spends most of her time during the week managing vendor lists and working with businesses as they plan awards ceremonies, seminars and holiday parties. As we observed her, it was a constant sprint to keep everyone happy and moving in the same direction at the same time.

Technology has progressed by leaps and bounds in the last 10 to 20 years. That has made many things more convenient for us all. But businesses need to remember and revitalize the methodologies that made some of the small businesses into world-wide entities. Working together to combine services that offer convenience and quality to consumers is a win-win for all involved.

“We expect to continue to grow this group so that event planning is a breeze for anyone that wants to or has to put on a party or event”, says Tim Coy.

How to find a Great DJ in LA or Orange County

There's a lot to consider when looking for a DJ these days. DJing is one of those professions that attract a wide variety of people. Let's face it, there are a ton of people that "think" they can be a DJ. I meet them every week.

They are usually just a person that is a fan of a certain type of music or again, they "think" that they know what good music is. The fact is that there is a lot of good music but not all of it is going to fill the dance floor. And, not everything that sounds good in your car is going to please a large group of people. You might think that Tom Sawyer by Rush is the coolest thing you've ever heard but, c'mon, you're asking for that to be played at a wedding or a business event. I don't think so.

That's where a true professional DJ starts. They need to be able to read the crowd and interpret what is right for that particular moment. Over the years, I've met DJs that only play techno or only play hip-hop. Unfortunately, they are limiting themselves on the events that they can perform at. For some DJs that's ok and they only want to work the parties they they can enjoy. I would venture to say that they are not in it to have a successful business but moreso to enjoy DJing for themselves, and that's great for them. Not for you but, for them.

A good DJ will be flexible and will want to play the kind of music that you and your guests will enjoy. It's not about the kind of music I like. It's about the kind of music that is going to make the group go crazy and party like rock stars! That music changes from night to night. On one night a group of people will go crazy for Top 40 and hip-hop. The next night the very same group of people might not be in the mood for the same stuff but they'd love to hear a blast from the past and rock the 80's. You want a DJ can feel the difference and do what works. If they're not willing to do that then they are not willing to make every effort to insure that your event is the best that it can possibly be. Don't take a chance with a rigid DJ.

Contact is also important. Just as in any business, the DJ should be responsive via phone or email. Today is the day of the Blackberry and Treo. We can access the internet at Starbucks and McDonald's. People should be responsive and answer simple questions easily.

DJs should be able to provide references. If you can't talk to a past client then I have to wonder what they are hiding. DJs should be proud to offer references from past clients AND clients should be proud to recommend a DJ or there is usually something wrong. Googling a DJ or looking them up online should also provide some feedback. If a DJs been around for a respectable time period then you can usually find a few comments about them online. That's a great way to hear what people are really saying about the DJ and their work ethic.

I'll be talking more about finding a great DJ or entertainer in future posts. Let me know your thoughts and experiences when it comes to DJs or entertainers that you've worked with. I'd love to hear the good or bad.

Also, feel free to email me if you have questions about your next event. I'm always happy to offer suggestions.

Hoping your next event is a blast,

Tim Coy
